Guests learned about our conservation projects throughout the Western Hemisphere.Featured was an illustrated presentation by Peter Harrison, one of the world's foremost seabird experts on Seabirds that inspired all lovers of Nature's winged wonders. Peter hasWritten and illustrated more than a dozen books.

His Seabirds: An Identification Guide, first published in 1983, is still regarded as the standard reference work on the world's 350 or so seabird species.Leads scientific research expeditions throughout the world Discovered the Pincoya Storm Petrel, the first completely new storm petrel species to be discovered in nearly 100 years.

Peter Harrison joined us in launching our latest projectMARKHAM'S STORM-PETREL PROJECT: In SEARCH of NESTING SITESin CHILE
|
The main objective of this project is to search for and discover reproductive colonies of this species in northern Chile. Since this species nests in underground cavities in desert regions, mining is a very real threat. Discovering reproductive sites for this species will be a very important first step in order to take conservation measures.

In addition, guests enjoyed the display of photos by National Geographic Award winning wildlife photographer, Larry Wan, founder of the Western Alliance for Nature.
Guests received signed photos and other works of art as gifts of our appreciation for supporting this conservation project
